22 short ammo intended for use in ISU Rapid Fire matches.ELY makes about the best, but most any of the European makers offer a similar product.a suggested course would be to practice wiht the Remington-Winchester-CCI-Wolf brands and have a 50 round box of the Ely for when only the best will serve. 22 Long Rifle Standard velocity would hold a inch for 10 shots at 50 yds(about twice what Ely shot) For your gun, I suspect it would get the most out of any of the. 22 LR Match Ammo.many $$$$$$$$.but for practice and club matches.Remington. The date of you revolver says it is a BP grade gun meant for low pressure ammo.I would stick to standard velocity ammo.In the many years I shot NRA competition, the ammo standard was ELY 10X. Some ammo is poorly primed and there ar gaps in the priming compound under the rim. It may not be match grade.but one that shoots the best are also looking for the one that goes off 99.9% of the time. Thanks for any help On another forum I just found that on this model, H&R began using letters in the serial number beginning in 1940 so mine must be 1939 or older. If you go thru a dozen brands and types of ammo.you will find one that your gun digest best. Not sure if I should share the serial number in this thread but wondering first if there is anyone who could help me. 22 ammo IS NOT the varies greatly and most of the cheap stuff is the worst of it(this bulk stuff is made on almost worn out tooling with marginal componets.that is why it is cheap) A match shooter will get as many different brands and types of ammo as they can find, not all of it "match" ammo, then put in the range time to shoot 10 shot groups at 10 meters(33 feet) from a rested postion(sand bags e a bag of kitty litter). One of the simplest problems to semi-solve is what ammo to use.All. This handgun can be done, but everything needed would be custom made. There ar a half dozen dimensions that have to be made uniform and lock up firmed up. It would take major pistolsmithing to deal with the cylinder to barrel relationship. Try taking a candle and blacken your sights with it.the sight pictures sharpness will improve. The reason being that "colored" sights reflect light and give a fuzzy sight picture. To that end, many shooters use a carbide fueled lighter that produces soot at a high rate, to blacken the sights. Example, No Match Shooter using any firearm with iron sights would use anything but BLACK sights.both front and rear. As an example.the "gold" front sight is to sell guns.not make it shoot better. There are all sorts of dimensional issues that would need correcting, to say nothing of inadequete sights. Anything smaller than a dinner plate at 10 yds was fairly safe form an intended shot.

FWIW, Accuracy was not the intended goal of such a firearm.
